Let's go over the pre-test and the post-test. And we'll start, I'm going to start with the pre-test and we'll kind of go through those. And what I want you guys to do is there's some questions in here where you might not like the best, that I want you guys to play along at home and pull out your pre, get out your pre-test and let's go through what the answers might be. And so we'll start with, obviously with questions one and two, you can fill out, that's your name and secret number, we'll not worry about that. And then number three is, which of the following is a key element of a patient's behavior that makes the diagnosis of somatoform disorder more likely? And who wants to pop in with a potential answer for that? I'm so sorry, say that again, you clicked in, but I'm going to make you a little louder. Consistent pattern of describing symptoms. So yeah, somatoform disorder is when everything hurts, it's what I call, it's the Chia Pet sign for, if you use the, are you disagreeing? So our neurologist here in the room is concurring, so it's, yeah, everything hurts, but everything is wrong, but there's no objective findings. So I would say that that would probably be the most common, although the meticulous cataloging of the medical history would also fit with somatoform disorder. So the person that brings in their, not their like their three, five card, but their notebooks, it's not one notebook, it's like a stack of notebooks of all of their observations of their disease would make somatoform disorder far more likely. So that's actually probably the most correct answer. OSHA action levels for hearing conservation for an eight hour time weighted average is 85 decibels, 85 decibels, exactly. So 85 decibels means an action level in that program means you have to have a plan and you have to do some testing. It does not necessarily mandate that you have to use hearing protection, which is correct. Okay. Number five, the period of greatest fetal susceptibility to the effects of toxic in utero exposures is? Ganogenesis. Organogenesis, exactly. If we mess with that, we end up with a baby that's not the way they're supposed to be. Which of the following have an OSHA required medical surveillance for exposed workers? Chrome 6, 243 americium, and non-organic fluorides. Chrome 6. Chrome 6, exactly. And he has covered that. One thing I'll throw in is that there's chromates versus chrome 6, and they're a little different. And the allergy is usually chromates, or you get burns from chromates. If you ever see somebody that gets burns from concrete, especially during the winter, that's usually the chromates that they've added to the concrete. So that's usually the place you'll see chromates. It's a nasty dermatitis. Okay. What percentage of concussions will resolve within three weeks? 25, 50, 66, or 90%? 90 something. 90%. Neurologists, shake your head yes. So we're good. Which of the following is consistent with an obstructive pulmonary disorder? And so we've got two with a normal FEC and three with an FEC below normal. So which would you expect? Let's just do the FEC first. What do you expect to happen to the FEC if it's an obstructive disorder? Low. You would expect the FEC to be less than the lower limits of normal. Well, this is obstructive. So theoretically, in an obstructive disorder, the FEC would be normal, right? What about the FEV1, or the ratio, is what you really want to look at? So the ratio is on this. The ratio should be below the lower limit of normal in obstructive. So an obstructive pattern is a normal FEC, because FEC is what goes with restrictive, and then a ratio that's below the lower limit of normal. So that's the pattern of obstructive. Does that make sense? Okay. Uh-oh. In federally regulated DOT drug testing, which cause for a laboratory positive test for marijuana will result in a MRO negative report to the employer? Verified prescription for marijuana. That is correct. Okay. So if they've been prescribed Marinol, which is a legitimate pharmaceutical, then that would be an okay thing. What should you do next if that was the case? What's your secondary concern? What else worries you in that patient? Why are they having problems with their appetite? Do they have cancer or something else that would also put them at risk? Absolutely. So there's only three things going on, right? So theoretically, it would be an MRO negative drug test, right? On Marinol, as best as pure THC, it will still be impairing from a functional perspective, so we have a safety issue. And I'm really curious why they're on the Marinol. What disease process is causing them to be on prescribed Marinol? Because that's not a normal – is that disease process itself going to interfere with their ability to drive or to drive safely? So those are all things I would be really curious about. Okay. Number 10, which of the following types of radiation does not penetrate the skin but may cause a significant health threat if inhaled or ingested? Alpha. Alpha is the correct answer. Remember, beta – alpha is stopped by a piece of paper or your skin. Beta goes a little bit, and gamma goes through everything. And neutrons go through the whole planet. Okay. 11, true or false, definition of a teratogen, an agent or factor which results in birth defects or malformations in the developing embryo but which does not result in any toxigenic effects in the mother? That would be correct. It would be true. I agree. So a teratogen impacts the developing baby but does not cause any trouble in the mom. A B reader would be useful in classifying the severity of which of the following disorders? Asthma, chemical pneumonitis, representative pneumonitis, or pneumoconiosis? Pneumoconiosis. Pneumoconiosis is the correct answer. Give me one second. Yes, I have a question. True and false. Yep. Yep. You said the word embryo? Developing baby. I'm being more specific. It should just be developing baby. Okay. Yes, I agree with you. It was not just the embryo. It could be anywhere in the development. But it's something affecting the baby but not the mom is what we're calling a teratogen.
Video Summary
The video transcript is a detailed review of a pre-test with a focus on diagnosing and understanding medical disorders and procedures. Key topics discussed include somatoform disorder, OSHA action levels for hearing conservation, organogenesis in fetal development, required medical surveillance for certain chemicals, and the resolution of concussions. The discussion also covers obstructive pulmonary disorder patterns, implications of federally regulated drug testing, particularly regarding marijuana, and understanding radiation penetration and teratogens. The content is medically focused, verified by experts, and emphasizes understanding medical issues influencing patient diagnosis and safety.
