OVERVIEW

This session will take you on a journey to explore how to optimize osteopathic principles in standard chief complaint office visits with your patients and share how to integrate discussing the sensitive topics of obesity, weight loss, fatigue, poor sleep, stress, and malnutrition with patients while also emphasizing how osteopathic treatment modalities can accompany a patient’s path to optimal wellness.

This webinar will demonstrate how evidence-based principles of behavior change and habit formation can be seamlessly integrated into standard office visits to promote sustainable lifestyle improvements. Using exercise as a key example, Dr. Hill will show how even brief clinical encounters can be powerful opportunities to support patients in making small, achievable changes that build long-term health. Attendees will gain practical tools for guiding behavior-change conversations that are personalized, nonjudgmental, and time-efficient—relevant for learners and physicians at every stage of training.

Speakers: Katie Hill, MD; Christina Lucas-Vougiouklakis, DO, DipABLM, FACLM

OBJECTIVES
  • Define and explore the four osteopathic principles and how they apply to exercise as medicine

  • Describe evidence-based principles of behavior change and habit formation that can be used to support sustainable exercise adoption in clinical populations
