Identifying and Minimizing Conflicts of Interest Using Direct Primary Care
Description

This session will cover topics such as medical ethics, the traditional fee-for-service conflicts of interest and some alternatives to the fee-for-service model, burnout/compassion fatigue, regulatory responses, capitation, direct primary care and conflicts, and more!

Learning Objectives
After completing this activity, participants will be able to:
  • Discuss how medical ethics and practice models interact to create conflicts of interest and compassion fatigue
  • Review clinical examples of how common conditions in cardiology encounter conflicts
  • Explain how the direct primary care model and other non-fee-for-service models are designed to better identify and navigate conflicts of interest by keeping price transparency (and thus any financial conflict) at the front of each medical decision
