Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly evolving, but how much of it is truly accessible to physicians, and how much is just hype? In this session, we'll explore the current state of AI in healthcare, focusing on practical tools already available to physicians and how they can be effectively implemented. We'll also address the broader role of the physician in the development and refinement of AI for clinical use, ensuring it enhances patient care without overpromising. Attendees will leave with a clear understanding of how AI can support their practice today and how they can contribute to shaping its future in emergency medicine.

After completing this activity, participants will be able to:
  • Differentiate between practical AI tools currently enhancing emergency medicine and the speculative, overhyped technologies still on the horizon
  • Discuss the ethics, pitfalls, and tools that may be ethically questionable for clinical use in the emergency department
  • Identify AI tools relevant to emergency physicians and master their practical applications in clinical workflows
