OVERVIEW
This beginner-friendly course is designed to introduce osteopathic physicians and healthcare professionals to foundational quality improvement (QI) concepts and practical strategies for creating meaningful change in clinical settings. Participants will learn how to differentiate between research, evidence-based practice, and QI; apply the Model for Improvement to real-world challenges; and use the PDSA (Plan-Do-Study-Act) cycle to test and refine ideas.

Through case examples, brainstorming techniques, and implementation planning, learners will gain tools to initiate and sustain improvements—even in resource-limited or private practice settings. The course also highlights support available through the AOA Patient Safety Organization (PSO), including Safe Tables and downloadable toolkits.

Whether you’re leading a formal QI initiative or just getting started, this course provides a clear, step-by-step approach to turning curiosity into impact.
