OVERVIEW
Sometimes, %#@^ hits the fan. As hard as we try to screen patients well, no one’s processes are perfect. Mismanaged expectations can create post-procedure headaches, and even when you set expectations properly, other issues, sometimes psychiatric, may blossom into full view on post-treatment visit number one. We’ll discuss how to prevent conflict before it starts and how to manage it when it occurs. We‘ll walk through “war stories” and how we solved them. We’ll address lawsuits, board complaints, and doctors who went to prison.

Speaker: Jeff Segal, MD

OBJECTIVES
  • Prevent escalation of conflict into an online reputational assault, a lawsuit, or board headache
  • Review how lawsuits against doctors develop
  • Explain the impact of effective communication with patients and how it prevents conflicts and lawsuits
  • Describe how financial misunderstandings can morph into a lawsuit
  • Discuss how regulators and lawyers can shut down a practice
  • Avoid ugly outcomes with the administrative, civil, and criminal justice systems
