OVERVIEW
This education focuses on equipping physicians and healthcare professional teams involved in the management of older patients (50 to 59 years old having a medical condition that increases their risk for severe RSV outcomes and those 60 to 74 years of age and older who are at increased risk of severe RSV disease) with the awareness, knowledge, and tools needed to implement recommendations on the FDA-approved and CDC-recommended prevention strategies of RSV in older adults in their day-to-day practices. Special outreach will focus on those healthcare professionals working in medically underserved and under-immunized populations, including those in rural and urban settings.

OBJECTIVES
  • Describe and summarize the new CDC/ACIP RSV vaccine recommendations for older adults (more than 75 years of age) and risk-based recommendations for those aged 60 to 74 years
  • Identify patients aged 50 to 59 years who have a medical condition that increases their risk of severe RSV outcomes and discuss RSV immunization through shared decision making
  • Explain the RSV burden of disease in adults to improve the provider’s ability to discuss the potential benefits of RSV prevention with patients
  • Explain the increased risk of severe RSV for patients with chronic medical conditions and risk factors
  • Utilize best practices to close the immunization gap to increase vaccination rates
  • Evaluate and determine the clinical considerations for the timing of RSV vaccination for the 2025 to 2026 season and co-administration of RSV vaccines with other vaccines

Expiration Date: May 28, 2026
