Welcome to Scholar Teacher. This next series is going to be on the cervical thoracic area. The Scholar Teacher series was developed for the use in osteopathic recognition and faculty development. The program was created by myself, Dr. Michael Rowane, and Dr. Paul Evans. The Scholar Series was created by LECOMM, LECOMM-T, as well as a University Hospitals Osteopathic Consortium, as well as the American Academy of Osteopathy. This Scholar Series was developed by Dr. Michael Rowane, Dr. Brian Peppers, and myself. It has been sponsored by several websites, including the OOA, AOA, ACOP, and ACOI, among others. On these websites, you can find links to Scholar 7, Scholar 4, Scholar Specific, and in addition, Scholar Teacher. Scholar Teacher was developed to help programs acquire osteopathic recognition. This is a component of the single accreditation system. Faculty development must be easy, must be accessible, must be clinically applicable, and time-conserving, and the product has to be free. Scholar Teacher provides several small snippets of 15- to 20-minute videos that highlight the thoracic landmarks, the muscular and skeletal assessments, rib dysfunction, and treatment. They may be viewed individually, or they may be viewed as a group with your faculty meeting, or they may also be used to help assist allopathic physicians understand osteopathic philosophy and treatment. Additionally, the faculty, when listening to Scholar Teacher, may acquire CME. The CME will be provided by the AOA. One of the most attractive components of the Scholar Teacher is that it is free of charge. One can download the videos from the Ohio Osteopathic Association, AOA, Scholar Complete, and et cetera. The first Scholar Teacher was on the thoracic cage. In the videos, they were divided into six sections. There was the introduction, the faculty development introduction, the faculty development landmarks, the thoracic cage assessment, the thoracic cage treatment, and becoming the teacher. And again, you can get all these in several websites, including the OOA and the AOA. The Scholar Teacher that you'll be viewing today is the same format as the previous Scholar Teacher. This Scholar Teacher will be on the cervical thoracic area. You will still be able to acquire CME with the viewing of this video. And you may be able to use this in faculty development, training allopathic physicians, or training your own residents, fellows, and students. Another Scholar opportunity is the Scholar 12. The Scholar 12 can be seen on Scholar12.org. This is a free app which will allow you to participate in Scholar 7, Scholar 4, and Scholar Specific on any device. We developed Scholar 12 over a year. It's accessible via website, on the laptop, or downloadable as an app on your iPad, tablet, or cell phone, or internet connections. Enable students and residents and attending physicians to conveniently create scholarly work. It's an andrological flipped classroom and developed for millennial learners. There is a certificate at the end which you can put into your portfolio that you've completed the Scholar program. The goals, mission, and visions of the Scholar 12 program is to develop a scholarly productive culture within the osteopathic community. Its mission, Scholar 12 aims to start or enhance the development of a scholarly culture within all osteopathic medical and podiatric training programs. Its vision, Scholar 12 will be the home for scholarly culture development nationally. I'd also like to point out another component of the Scholar program. It's the Scholar Journal. The Scholar Journal looks at accepting pilot and validation studies. You can reach it by placing ScholarComplete, no space, dot com into your browser. I hope Scholar Teacher, as well as Scholar 12 and Scholar Complete will be helpful for you to develop osteopathic recognition in the ACGME.
